Mark Spence has studied wing chun continuously since 1984 and has worked as a full-time professional instructor for 17 years. He is a student of the late Grandmaster Jim Fung and has managed and taught in schools for GM Jim Fung in Australia, Asia and Europe as well as owning his own school in NZ.
Des Ferris is also a student of the Late Grandmaster Jim Fung. He began training in wing chun in 1986. He has worked as a full-time professional instructor while managing GM Fung’s Academy in NSW as well as running a school until recently at Bondi Beach.
What To Expect
We have modeled our school along the lines of our experiences while training in Hong Kong under the legendary Chu Shong Tin. Our approach is quite informal. Students all train together and help each other under the guidance of the Chief Instructors. Rank is recognised through experience and skill rather than the colour of your belt or badge. Students come and go at times that suit them in the same way that people attend gyms. Because the Chief Instructors are always in attendance they understand each student’s level and ability and teach them accordingly. You will advance through the system at your own rate.
